Status: resolved

At 18.34h an outage started on our fiber connection between BIT-1 and Equinix AM7. This fiber carriers parts of our traffic from BIT to Amsterdam. This traffic was rerouted automatically over other fibers. The disruption may have led to a short disruption of network traffic. Customers operating their own DWDM wavelength on this path will observed an outage on this service.

At this moment the cause of this outage is unknown, we're contacting our fiber provider to get more details.
Update placed at 22/08/2019, 20:17h
Our fiber supplier is investigating the outage. We observe low power levels on both ends of our fiber, while output power is unchanged. Power levels are currently too low to transmit a signal, making communications via this fiber impossible. We're awaiting a response from our provider.
Update placed at 22/08/2019, 22:52h
Our fiber supplier is dispatching a crew to do measurements from one of the endpoints. This measurement should indicate where the fiber is disrupted. We do not have any indication when results will be available.
Update placed at 23/08/2019, 6:57h
Unfortunately, we haven't received any new information from our fiber provider yet. Of course, we're trying to get an update from them, and we will share any new information via this incident ticket.
Update placed at 23/08/2019, 14:30hOur fiber provider has difficulties locating the disruption. At 15.00h local time a new set of measurements will be done. We hope this will pinpoint the location of the fault.
Update placed at 23/08/2019, 15:35h The new measurements done in Equinix AM7 indicate a fiber length of just 25 meters, which indicates a local problem within Equinix AM7. The fiber provider is currently contacting Equinix to check and repair this local patch.
Update placed at 23/08/2019, 22:39hOur fiber provider is still working on fixing a new fiber patch within the Equinix datacenter. We have no indication on the time to fix.
Update placed at 24/08/2019, 6:55hThe defective local fiber patch has been replaced. This resolved the problem, the link is up again now and tests show that the fiber is ok.
