Network maintenance reboot of router
27-11-2019 00:00:00
- 27-11-2019 00:30:00
Urgency: Urgent
Affected services:
- NDIX
- WEAS
- DSL
Expected impact:
- A brief interruption of the affected services of a couple of minutes during reboot of router.
Customer intervention required: No
Reference number: 165637
Summary:
Due to a memory leak on a router BIT will proactively reboot this router to prevent unexpected outage of services.
Details:
Due to a bug in IOS software, memory usage of our Cisco router is slowly increasing. This will ultimately cause the router to spontaneously reboot itself. To prevent this, we want to manually restart the router during a maintenance window. Maintenance is already planned on Wednesday November 27th and we will combine this router restart with the planned migration of our firewalls.
The phase out of this router is already planned in the near future. For this reason we will not upgrade the firmware in order to keep the interruption as short as possible.
