Emergency maintenance power generator BIT-1
06-07-2021 15:00:00
- 06-07-2021 23:45:00
Urgency: Emergency
Affected services:
- colocation BIT-1
Expected Impact:
- no emergency power for max. 2 hours
Customer intervention required: No
Referencenumber: 175166
Summary:
The power generator in BIT-1 will be replaced. No emergency power will be available during the generator swap.
Details:
During the monthly test of the emergency power infrastructure at BIT-1, the power generator indicated a reliability problem, and therefore will be replaced. No emergency power can be generated during the swap of the diesel generator. The UPS'es in BIT-1 will be available though to protect against power failures for a limited time. In the highly unlikley event that the regular power supply should fail for an extended period, the power supply for the IT equipment in BIT-1 will be interrupted.
The new generator has been dispatched and will replace the current generator upon arrival. Between 15:00 hrs and 20:00 hrs for the period of max two hours, there will be no generated emergency power at BIT-1.
Update placed at 20:00 hrs
Due to technical difficulties the replacement generator has not been taken into service yet. As a result the period of unavailability of emergency power will be extended. The maintenance window has been prolonged until 23:00 hrs.
Update placed at 23.00 hrs
The replacement generator has been placed and connected. In case of mains failure engineers on-site will manual start the generator and switch the load. There are still some complications with automated start/stop control of the generator. Engineers are still working on these complications.
Update placed at 23.30 hrs
The complications regarding the start/stop control of the generator have been fixed. The generator has been tested and commissioned. The maintenance has been successfully completed.
