Wanted: Software Engineer
Wanted: Software Engineer
We are BIT: a down-to-earth, friendly IT company full of smart people who get their energy from technology, open source, sustainability and honest collaboration. From our own data centres, we build and operate autonomous, privacy-conscious cloud and infrastructure solutions for the business market.
Do you have a passion for programming and a head full of ideas for improving processes? Are you looking for a role where you’ll have plenty of autonomy and be involved in both designing and delivering technical solutions? And would you like to help make the internet safer, more open and freer? Then this role could be just what you’re looking for.
What you’ll be doing
As a Software Developer at BIT, you’re more than just a programmer. You’ll be part of a small, close-knit R&D team and you’ll run projects largely independently from A to Z. That means you won’t just be building, you’ll also think through the right approach and take responsibility for the end result.
You’ll work on a wide range of projects, such as optimising and further developing our internal systems, maintaining and expanding our customer portal, and contributing to initiatives such as ECOFED. You’ll also explore new solutions and technologies, support colleagues, and fix bugs and incidents in existing software.
You’ll be involved in every phase of the development process: from analysing stakeholders’ needs and challenges through to planning, building, testing and supporting the solution in production. Together with your colleagues, you’ll keep looking for improvements, and you’ll also have the space to make your own decisions and take initiative.
The software you develop is mainly based on PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C# and Vue.js. We use SQL-based database systems, TSDB and LDAP. In our development process, you’ll work with various GNU/Linux systems, Git and Docker.
Who are you?
We’re looking for a passionate software engineer who enjoys taking responsibility, thinks critically, and works well in a team where there’s a high degree of independence. We’d also expect:
- At least 3 years’ experience in PHP application development, including working with modern frameworks and best practices.
- Experience with JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks such as Vue.js.
- Experience with database systems and designing and implementing APIs and HTTP endpoints.
- Experience with C# and/or Java would be a bonus.
What do we offer?
We’ll make sure you can do your job well — and enjoy it. You’ll get:
- A salary of up to €4,200, depending on your knowledge, education and experience.
- Plenty of autonomy and responsibility within projects.
- A friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere with room for your own input and initiative.
- Flexible working hours and the option to work partly from home.
- The opportunity to place your own server in our data centre (or a VM).
- 30 days of annual leave and an excellent pension. BIT pays your pension in full, with no employee contribution.
- A daily organic lunch at the office.
- Access to our gym, a monthly chair massage, and great colleagues.
