BIT's third nameserver now uses a .eu domain
We’ve moved our third authoritative nameserver from nsauth3.bit.org to nsauth3.bitnl.eu. Since 22 June, nsauth3.bitnl.eu has been the default for all new domain registrations. Over the coming weeks, we’ll also roll out this change to all existing domains under our management.
This change brings another part of our services in line with our vision of digital autonomy. While a .org domain works perfectly well from a technical perspective, it remains subject to US administration. Wherever we can choose a European alternative without compromising on quality or reliability, we do. That’s why we’ve chosen a .eu domain.
Our nameservers remain geographically distributed, ensuring DNS stays available even if one location becomes unavailable. As before, our third nameserver continues to run from an external location. It’s now hosted by deSEC, a Berlin-based non-profit organisation that, like us, places a strong emphasis on security and privacy.
