BOSS, BIT Object Storage Service, is our scalable object storage service for organisations that need to store large volumes of data securely, efficiently and reliably. The service is built on a modern Ceph platform with NVMe storage, distributed across three datacentres in Ede. This provides the high availability and redundancy that BIT customers have come to expect.
BOSS supports the widely adopted S3 protocol, making it easy to integrate with existing tooling and applications. Popular clients such as the AWS CLI and S3cmd work out of the box. This makes BOSS suitable for both developers and organisations looking for a scalable storage platform without relying on hyperscalers.

High Availability by Design
All data stored in BOSS is replicated across three datacentres. If one location becomes unavailable, the service continues to operate without interruption. The storage platform runs entirely on NVMe infrastructure, delivering high performance and low latency.
At the frontend, load balancing, health checks and intelligent request routing ensure high availability. Unavailable frontend nodes are automatically removed from rotation, minimising the impact of maintenance and unexpected failures.
Compatible With Existing Tooling
Because BOSS supports the S3 protocol, existing software can often be used without modification. This makes it straightforward to integrate the service into existing workflows, deployment pipelines and applications.
Management is carried out entirely through S3 compatible tooling, allowing BOSS to fit naturally into modern cloud native workflows and automated environments.
