Maintenance Ceph storage cluster
03-09-2020 00:00:00
- 03-09-2020 07:00:00
Urgency: Planned
Affected services:
- Virtual machines
- Shared storage
- Shared hosting
- MSSQL instances
Expected impact:
- Reduced redundancy
Customer intervention required: No
Reference number: 169939
Summary:
On Thursday September 3rd between 00:00 hrs and 07:00 hrs engineers from BIT will perform maintenance on the Ceph storage cluster. One storage node will be upgraded with the newest firmware for the NVMe drives inside the machine.
Details:
We will upgrade the firmware of the NVMe drives in one of our storage nodes. As a precaution we will upgrade only one node. We have tested the new firmware extensively and did not observe any issues. However, should something go wrong, we still have enough redundancy left to function properly without impact. We do not expect any impact on availability or services using the cluster. However, every upgrade comes with (extra) risks, therefore the upgrade process will take place during a maintenance window.
