Untangle NG Firewall protects users and organisations against threats from both inside and outside their own network. This way, employees are safer online and unauthorised access and data leaks can be prevented. Untangle offers integrated protection of networks, both on location and in the cloud.

Setting up a firewall to ensure your network is well protected can be quite a task. Especially if the software or hardware just does not do what you expect from it. Untangle simplifies network security with a single, modular software platform and is designed to keep up with the ever changing needs of organisations.

Why Untangle?

A firewall is an important part of the fight against cybercrime. The range of different types of firewalls is wide, but basically they all serve the same purpose: protecting the network against harmful traffic. Compared to other firewall solutions, Untangle is far above the rest in many areas. Especially when it comes to features, security and support.

  • WPA2-Enterprise support
Untangle NG Firewall offers support for WPA2-Enterprise. Each user can log in to the WiFi network with their own username and password. Logging in with a shared password is therefore a thing of the past. And it is no longer necessary to change the WiFi password when someone leaves (which often does not happen in practice).

  • Extensive VPN options
Support for OpenVPN, IPsec with IKEv2 and WireGuard VPN, among others. With high performance and easy to use.

  • Failover functionality
Untangle uses a VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol). If one of the firewalls fails, the other automatically takes over.

  • Checking IP addresses
Using Brightcloud IP Reputation Service from Webroot, the reputation of IP addresses is checked before they can reach the network.

  • Dynamic routing with BGP and OSPF
Untangle supports Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF). These protocols are widely supported and allow the Untangle firewalls to easily work together with other network devices, also from other brands.

  • Zero-touch implementation
With Untangle's zero-touch approach, implementation becomes a lot easier and the network is easy to manage remotely.

  • Robust hardware options
Untangle's zSeries features 10Gbit fiber, redundant power and NVMe-based storage.

  • UEFI support
Untangle offers Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) support, allowing administrators to choose from a wider range of the latest hardware to deploy their NG Firewall on.

  • More than just a firewall
The Untangle Network Security Framework not only includes an NG Firewall, but also offers Software Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) with the Untangle SD-WAN Router. The main benefits of SD-WAN include low costs, centralised management and secure connectivity of remote locations.

A specialist team is constantly working on new features and improvements. Through an active community, administrators give each other advice on a daily basis and share their knowledge and experience about Untangle NG Firewall.
